Going for a Visit
So, a good friend of mine was asking me when I would be able to visit my kids again (or when they could visit me) and I had to tell him that I didn’t really know. About a week later he told me that he’d found an inexpensive flight for me, but by the time we settled on a date the price had doubled. I was very disappointed since I was already excited about seeing my kids and friends.
About a week later, I was checking flights online (yet again) and I found that one airline had a special going on… and it was within my friend’s price range. I called him right away, and now I have tickets to visit my kids for two weeks starting June 16th. It’s such a wonderful feeling knowing that I’ll finally see them again! It will also be great to see my friends, taste food I can’t find down here in Mexico and enjoy fresh air. The difficult part is the fact that we don’t have a lot of money and the exchange rate from pesos to dollars is terrible. Plus I don’t have a vehicle, so I won’t be able to take the kids a lot of places. At least I’ll be able to see them though, and the day after I get there is their last day of school, so I’ll be able to spend a lot of time with them.
The only thing that makes me feel bad about going is the fact that Alberto can’t come with me and he’ll have to run our cafe all by himself. The hardest part of all that is going to buy the fresh veggies (which I normally do twice a week). I am determined to get him to ask his niece to at least pick up the lettuce for him. It wouldn’t be hard to show her who I buy from and what I look for in the lettuce. Plus it’s not too far from her house, so it wouldn’t be that difficult for her to pick it up for him. Hopefully one of our other nieces or nephews would be able to give him a hand inside the cafe as well, at least during the busy times of the day.
