Thank goodness for weekends off!
This has been a rather busy and tiring week. It started with a busy weekend last weekend – Working on Saturday and then helping a friend paint on Sunday.
The Sunday painting project consisted of painting one wall of my friend Christy’s apartment, then going to her boyfriend’s house and putting primer on the two bathrooms (and one bathroom ceiling). While we were doing that I was standing on a toilet seat (the step stool wouldn’t fit in that corner and we didn’t have an extension pole at the time). Well, as I was painting the last bit of the corner the seat slipped (one side wasn’t attached) and I started to fall… luckily I was holding the window ledge for balance and was able to catch myself. The only problem is that night my back began hurting… the next two days at work were not fun, and only the use of ibuprofen and thermacare patches made it possible for me to function. I didn’t realize at the time I’d hurt myself though. After we were done painting at his place we went back to her apartment and finished our painting job there. We were doing sponge painting on her dining room wall in the same colors as the bottom half of a previous painting project we did in her spare bedroom. It came out with a nice marbled effect that was rather pleasing. I’ll have to get a camera and take photos of both rooms some time and post them.
The first few days of the week were spent with me sleeping and trying to get my back to feel better, though I did attend the Orioles game on Monday night. Tom Hanks and Ron Howard were there, and could be seen (barely) from our seats. It was a good game, and the O’s won *grins* Tuesday I found out that all the techs have to get their certification by next year – which means that I have to take the test in November *whee* So… it’s time to start hitting the books and memorizing doseage calculations and ratios, drug classifications, brand names and their generic equivalents, metric conversions, etc. Oh what fun! I’d rather take classes, because I feel that some things are easier to learn that way rather than being self-taught.
Now I finally have a full weekend off, my daughter is spending time with her boyfriend, as with most weekends now. She only has 25 more days till she leaves for boot camp and is doing her best to make the most of her time.
Hopefully I will be in the right mood to do a little bit of writing at some point this weekend, my story has been on the back burner for far too long. I also want to get some studying done, not exactly relaxing stuff, but I’ll wind up being more relaxed if I do, because I’ll be closer to knowing all the material for the certification test. If I have any time left over then I’ll spend it playing sudoku and reading.
