Aimless Notions

I don’t quite understand why it is that people will write messages to me via my 360° mailbox, saying that they hope to hear back from me, and yet, they have set things up so people can’t send them messages.  It leaves me looking a bit like the RCA dog (am I dating myself by saying that? *heh*).  That little head tilt with a slightly perplexed look… Since there is no way for me to contact them & tell them what has happened they must think I’m rude or disinterested.

Something similar has also occurred, which I have noticed for quite some time, some people will ask to be added as a friend either on 360° or on Yahoo Messenger but they won’t bother to say hi, introduce themselves or even have anything in their profile about themselves.  How on earth would someone know if they wanted you to be your friend if they’ve never chatted with you and don’t know the slightest thing about you?  Puzzling behavior.

Thinking of puzzling behavior, my oldest daughter is currently – BORED – Hardly a huge surprise since there’s not a huge number of things for a 17 yr old girl to do in this area, especially since she doesn’t want to get a job just a month and a half before she leaves for boot camp.  It’s understandable that she wants to have some fun during her last month of childhood, however I am becoming increasingly impatient with her sighing around the house and generally being grumpy because she’s bored.  HELLO? You’re 17, well old enough to figure out how to entertain yourself.  I work 40 hours a week like most adults and I would LOVE to have even half that time off to do all the little things I’ve been meaning to do…  But that’s not going to happen because my vacation time is limited and bills have to be paid.  I’ve suggested that she just work a couple days a week, but she refuses to even think of that (though it would have her out of the house those days, meeting other people and *gasp* earning a little $ so she could go do fun things).  I don’t think that would be such a bad thing but you’d think I’d told her that she should allow snakes to live in her bed or something like that.
